			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Google has recently made significant changes to the way it presents local search results. If you&#8217;ve not looked at your Google Place for while it may now be time for a health check to present your business in the best possible light. Local search results are now featuring heavily in organic listings and this could bring some local businesses exciting opportunities.</p>
<p>Unfortunately the changes also mean now only a maximum of seven local business listings appear on page 1, as opposed to ten prior to the changes. If your listing was at position eight, nine or ten your Google Places listing may now be hidden from view. This may have a negative impact on your business and work will be needed to boost your page position.</p>
<p>Whilst there&#8217;s no quick fix to boost your page position, now might be a good time to make sure you&#8217;re making the most of your local listing. Check your contact details are up to date and your business information is still relevant. If you&#8217;ve diversified into different products and services edit your entry to make sure your categories are still a true reflection of your business type.</p>
<p>Check for duplicate listings, these can sometimes crop up when directory sites or Google itself creates a local listing for your business. If this is the case, claim the listing as your own by clicking on the &#8220;business owner?&#8221; link at the top right of the &#8220;place page&#8221; and follow the simple instructions to claim the listing. You&#8217;ll need to sign into your Google account to claim the listing.</p>
<p>As Google leans more towards featuring local businesses in its organic search results it&#8217;s going to become more and more important to ensure your online business profiles are well written, descriptive, and present your business in the best possible light as the competition increases for those important page 1 positions.</p>
